presentation is the key

Days to hand in: 8

My tutorial yesterday put major emphasis on presentation and how I should organise my work to get the best out of. It's clear that it is going to play a key role when its being marked and we're being encouraged to mount work in a way that isn't very familiar to how we've been taught to do it in the past so im actually feeling pretty nervous and about hand in. The tutorial has made me reflect on my body of work and how the pieces work together. I've decided to collate together 3 collections dependant on the colour way. I have a pink collection- strawberry, coral and pale pink shades with touches of metallic gold, a greyscale collection- obviously blacks whites and greys and a brights collection- this consists of only 2 pieces, one neon lime and the other fluro berry which are both more about tone rather than the design and detail. I'll post some images of these soon :)

Beth Zimmerman

Beth Zimmerman.

Bit late, but I've come across this talented illustrator who concentrates on the female face and hair. I love what she's done in these monochrome drawings. Im glad to who have found these because they kinda validate a selection of paper prints i was working in last week (they need to be cropped and mounted!).

Days to hand in:9

10am tomorrow morning i've got my last EVER tutorial :O. Although I'm glad to be finally coming to end of the course, Im feeling kind of sad and sentimental too...i seriously need to get a grip!

Anyways, Im today im trying to get organised for the tutorial. I reckon its going to be treated as a preliminary marking session, because lets face it, do we really need a tutorial 1 week before hand in?! No. Although I'll be spending every last minute in the studio print print printing away, Im sure that it wont be enough time to make any fast changes depending on what my tutor says. So, if im right about the preliminary marking i want to be prepared. Im thinking of it as a formative marking tutorial so today there will be a lot of printing, organising, mounting, filing, tweaking etc. I hope this will benefit the rest of my week too as I'll have a clearer mind to use my time efficiently...

LIMElight

Days to hand in: 11
With only 5 days out of 11 to go before hand in, I've been using all the time I have on the large print tables to finish of the last of my final pieces. Today I've been working on a patterned piece which will (hopefully!) become the link between my colour ways: Pink and Lime.

These are a collection of larger samples of a range of silk. Im going to be using opaque pigment to fleck colour onto the pink procion background. I've already used lime and violet so am probably going to try a peachy orange and a minty green on the remaining two.
